Maybe you have seen a robot riding a superbike in any Hollywood movies or cartoon shows before.

Now it has become a reality.

Yamaha has unveiled Motobot v1.0, an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot built with the combination of Yamaha’s motorcycle and robotics technology.

The purpose of Yamaha developing this project is to create a humanoid robot that can ride an unmodified motorcycle on a racetrack at more than 200 km/h.

It even has the ability to twist the throttle to get moving.

The task of controlling the complex motions of a motorcycle at high speeds requires a variety of control systems that must function with a high degree of accuracy.

[block_quote quote = ‘1|0’]We want to apply the fundamental technology and know-how gained in the process of this challenge to the creation of advanced rider safety and rider-support systems and put them to use in our current businesses, as well as using them to pioneer new lines of business.” -Yamaha[/block_quote]

This technology could also lead into other industry that’s useful outside of the motorbike world.

Think of this as inspiring creative solutions to unusual problems, rather than an explicit attempt to beat flesh-and-bone motorcyclists — any race victories are just icing on the cake.

Watch this video about the message from Motobot to the legendary MotoGP racer, Valentino Rossi.
